I receive a 525 error when launching Virtual TimeClock. |
|
A 525 error occurs when an older version of Virtual TimeClock Pro cannot
read a data file because its structure has been modified by a newer version
of Virtual TimeClock Pro.
525 errors generally happen under two circumstances:
1. After
upgrading Virtual TimeClock, an older version of Virtual TimeClock is inadvertently
launched, resulting
in a 525 error. The solution is to not use prior versions
of Virtual TimeClock after an upgrade. This is most easily accomplished by
removing prior versions of Virtual TimeClock as soon as you've performed
an upgrade.
2. Users sometimes install a Virtual TimeClock upgrade in spite of the strong warning
at startup that doing so causes
their
data file
to be modified
in
a way
that
makes it unusable with prior releases. After upgrading, the user
attempts to revert back to running their older, licensed version and receives a 525 error.
The solution is to either restore the last data file backup prior to the upgrade
or to purchase the Virtual TimeClock upgrade necessary to open their modified
data file. Contact Redcort Software here for upgrade pricing.

My local TimeClock clients cannot connect to the TimeClock server. |
|
The first thing to verify is that the TimeClock Server is running in Server mode:
-
From the Administration menu, choose Server.
-
In the TimeClock Mode section, from the Status drop-down list select TimeClock Server.
When the Virtual TimeClock server application is running on a local network, the server
is automatically located from the client by choosing Connect To Server from the File menu
at the client TimeClock.
If the server does not appear automatically, this is due to
either the presence of a firewall or Norton AntiVirus (2005-2006) Internet Worm protection
blocking Virtual TimeClock. The following network ports must be unblocked for use by
Virtual TimeClock Pro:
TCP/IP: The default port is 56777. To verify the port
being used, go to the TimeClock server and choose Server from the Administration menu.
UDP: Port 54321 is used for server auto discovery.

|
This is an operating system permissions error with the Redcort folder.
Verify all users have full read/write access to the Redcort folder
and its enclosed files. The Redcort folder is found here:
Macintosh -- Hard Disk:Library:Application

Windows -- C:\Program
